Medicine Bow, WY to Laramie, WY (Sunday 7/28)

We awoke at 530AM and had our trikes packed by 645AM.  With a final farewell to a really neat place we headed a few buildings away to a store to get some coffee and a breakfast burrito.  We finished and resumed the ride at 715AM.

We made it to Rock River by 930AM and figured we’d stop in a store and have a break.  However, it looked like the only store in town was closed, so we pedaled on though to the other side and then pulled over and took a 15 minute break.

We continued on and generally had low uphills and fast downhills.  Most of the terrain was rolling grassy hills and pastures with very little (if any) trees (until closer to Laramie).  We saw plenty of steer and antelope and even a few prairie dogs.

Dad asked where we should stop for lunch and I said to find a place.  However, there is no shade in WY (at least not where we were).  Finally, at 1230 we just pulled over next to some tracks and had lunch.  While there was no shade, there was a consistent breeze and the temperature was only mid-80s, so it was very enjoyable.

Following lunch, we headed back down the road to Laramie.  Laramie has no shoulder going into Laramie (white line then grass, literally).  When we finally got into the town proper, there is a large shoulder but it is also where people park their cars so you basically share the right hand driving lane until there are no parked cars again.  Drivers appeared to be courteous and we had nothing negative from anyone.

We got to Laramie and a hotel we’d gotten by 230PM.  We had not gone into town but stayed on 287 which skirts it.  Laramie is where WY University is so I’m sure theres lots going on, but most of what we saw was typical small town type stuff.  After showering and changing, we went next store to get some sushi which was delicious.  Then it was back to the room to get stuff ready for the trip to Colorado.
