While we were up north for a wedding I left my Catrike with David’s World Cycle in Ormond Beach for new bearings wheel trueing and general inspection and service for traveling.
Like always I was not disappointed with the service. The test ride was smooth and everything worked perfectly. The staff gave me an empty Catrike 559 shipping box which I would use to carry my disassembled trike on the airplane flight to Portland.
After downloading the assembly pages from the 2008 Catrike Manual I was ready to disassemble and box my Cat for travel.
1 Removed the chain and tubes. The placed chain in a coffee container for safety along with bagged Cat assembly bolts
2 Disassembled the boom leaving crank and pedals installed
3 Unbolted the steering tie rod being careful not to change the length
4 Removed the wheel/brake assembly as a unit
5 Removed the rear wheel
These are basically the items it is necessary to disassemble to box the Catrike Expedition. Intended to leave the seat installed, but removed for extra packing space
